A complaint is a gift? Say what?

Yes, you read that right.  Oftentimes in business (and personally) we consider no news as good news.  But, the older I get the more I challenge this thinking.  Is no news really good news or is no news just no news?  Just, you know- meh.  Or even worse, is no news just a simmering of emotions about to explode? Or still even worse, is it a simmering that just causes the client to go elsewhere without ever giving you the opportunity to get better?

The emotionally evolved self in me knows that it is better to hear problems and issues from someone than to pretend they don’t exist.  It’s when we start seeking feedback and appreciate it as a gift that we know we truly have evolved.
