Have you ever had an intense dream that felt so real, even after you woke up? Have you wondered why that is? It is because our emotions are powerful. Sometimes, the only way we can bring ourselves out of the emotions attached to the dream is to adjust our thinking.
Our thoughts are powerful. They have an impact on how we feel, and ultimately how we act.
We must reframe what could be potentially negative thoughts into constructive ones, building resilience, practicing gratitude, limiting negativity, and creating a more optimistic outlook.
- Reframing: Change “I can’t do this” to “this is going to be hard, but I can learn and grow.”
- Gratitude: Remind yourself daily of the things you are thankful for.
- Mindfulness: Take notice when negative thoughts are taking over your thinking and make a choice to choose a different perspective.
- Watch What You Say: Replace the phrase “I have to” with “I get to.”
- Visualize Success: Imagine the emotions associated with success and allow them to motivate you.
- Forgive Yourself and Others: Holding onto grudges and resentment bears a heavy weight.
When you allow yourself to move forward with a lighter heart and a more positive outlook, challenges become opportunities for growth. Small, intentional mindset shifts can lead to lasting change over time.
